Position Summary:
The Controller will oversee all financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance functions across multiple entities. This position plays a key role in financial oversight, analysis, and planning. The ideal candidate has strong accounting acumen, construction industry experience, and a passion for improving systems and reporting structures. The Controller will be an integral part of the leadership team, helping guide the company through complex financial decisions and supporting company-wide strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
Accounting Oversight & Reporting
- Lead and review monthly financial close processes for multiple entities
- Oversee preparation and review of consolidated financial statements
- Perform in-depth general ledger analysis and ensure accurate financial reporting
- Review and approve complex journal entries and reconciliations
- Manage multi-entity accounting operations, including intercompany activity
- Lead coordination and preparation for external audits
- Monitor and enhance internal control systems and accounting procedures
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, reporting deadlines, and industry standards
- Review and ensure accuracy of debt schedules and financial disclosures
- Oversee quarterly and annual filings, including 940, 941, TWC, W-2s, and 1099s
- Conduct financial analysis and benchmarking to support decision-making
- Analyze variances in budgets vs. actuals and report findings to management
- Prepare cost-to-complete and project profitability reports
- Support forecasting, cash flow management, and long-range planning
- Supervise accounting staff and review work for accuracy and timeliness
- Oversee payroll and benefit reporting for multiple entities
- Assist with vendor and customer escalations, contracts, and pay applications
- Collaborate with other departments to support operational efficiency and cost tracking
- Utilize Sage 100 and QuickBooks to build and maintain advanced reporting
- Recommend and implement process improvements and reporting automation
- Oversee fuel card usage, asset purchases, and financing documentation
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required)
- CPA certification (strongly preferred)
- Minimum 7 years of progressive accounting experience
- Construction or manufacturing industry experience highly preferred
- Strong command of GAAP, internal controls, and financial regulations
- Advanced Excel proficiency (pivot tables, complex formulas, data modeling)
- Experience with Sage 100 and QuickBooks and Viewpoint Vista preferred
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
