Land Surveyor Helper
The Land Surveyor Helper will perform their duties and responsibilities in support of the company’s mission in performing precise layouts to support the construction of projects. A profusely motivated individual with good technical, organization, and communication skills will assist with integrity to deliver superior service.
Job Functions:
Operate survey equipment including total stations, GPS units, and data collectors
Perform precise survey layouts and staking of highways, bridges, roads, and other infrastructure in a timely manner
Perform a site calibration and existing topo on new projects
Perform as-built surveys periodically and at the end of the project
Load models into earthworks for machine control
Check and perform calculations
Communicate completion of tasks and any field issues or concerns to Survey Manager
Train and guide less experienced surveyors
Keep survey equipment well maintained, clean, and verify that it is calibrated
Enforce safety protocols during field work and maintain a safe working environment
Experience and Technical Competency:
Ability to operate survey equipment and related software
Strong organizational skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Must have basic algebra and geometry skills to perform calculations such as area, volume, circumference, etc.
Ability to work in a team environment or independently on multiple projects at the same time
Ability to understand construction plans and specifications
Ability to travel to job sites. Valid driver’s license is required
Plans available time to efficiently complete assigned tasks
Is dependable, meets deadlines and produces high-quality work
Is responsive to inquiries and assignments in a timely manner
Experience and Education:
0-5+ years of experience in surveying and heavy civil construction
Proficient with data collectors equipment, robotic total station, and GPS
Trimble experience is a plus
High School diploma or equivalent
